Durant's historic night leads Warriors to Game 1 win
Warriors star Kevin Durant put on a historic performance in Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals, leading his team to a 113-91 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Durant finished the game with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists, becoming the first player in NBA history to record at least 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in a Finals game.
The Warriors were in control of the game from the start, jumping out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter. Durant was a major factor in the Warriors' early success, scoring 10 points in the first quarter.
The Cavaliers were able to cut the lead to single digits in the second quarter, but the Warriors were able to extend their lead to 15 points at halftime. Durant continued to be a force in the second half, scoring 10 points and dishing out 5 assists.
The Cavaliers made a run in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors were able to hold on for the victory. Durant was the key player down the stretch, scoring 6 points in the final five minutes of the game.
The Warriors now have a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 of the series will be played on Sunday night in Oakland.
