Current Status of the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) is the highest court in the federal judiciary of the United States. It has ultimate appellate jurisdiction over all U.S. federal court systems, the state court systems, and even the executive and legislative branches of the federal government under the terms of the United States Constitution.
The current Chief Justice of the United States is John G. Roberts Jr. He was born in Buffalo, New York on January 27, 1955. He married Jane Sullivan in 1996.
The current Supreme Court consists of nine Justices: one Chief Justice and eight Associate Justices. Chief Justice Roberts is the 17th Chief Justice of the United States.
